Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC)
User Account Control or UAC has recently been added to Microsoft's new platform Windows Vista. It is a new security layer to protect users from un/intentional administrative actions performed without the users' knowledge.
Put simply, it will display an alert message every time an administrative operation is about to take place and will prevent the action until user grants the request. It will be interesting to see how the average home user receives this behaviour since most people are not used to having their OS asking them for permission to launch admin processes.
However, there is no doubt that this is extra security for users. Only time will tell whether or not UAC is liked by most home users.
